H/She Said

In response to the Daily Prompt – Ask someone near you what they are thinking.

“What are you thinking?” I asked Barb, who was sitting beside me, her eyes closed, her fingers laced, her hand in her lap.
“Sims.”

“What?”

“My computer game, Sims.”

“Oh. How many people do you have?”

“I think there are thirty-two.”

“Thirty-two!” I echoed, “I thought that was a game, not a job.”

“I had more than one-hundred last year when I was running a second game on your Nexus 7,” she said, smiling.

I didn’t know what to say, so I turned back to my keyboard. I don’t know what she’s thinking now, and I’m afraid to ask.
