Somehow, through the years I’ve managed to save an old Wee Wisdom Magazine, October 1943. The stories have simple plots, and carry valuable lessons. The artwork is almost entirely line drawings, which I suppose were easier to reproduce.
Somehow the line illustrations – raking and burning of autumn leaves, acorns, children, squirrels, scarves, and mittens – appeal to me in a strong way. I suppose it’s a yearning to connect with my early youth.
Today’s children would probably not share my appreciate for this old style of publication. I can’t help but feel they are missing something.
