Paris To The Pyrenees, by David Downie

Downie and his wife, Alison Harris, are hiking across France. The author claims to be in poor health, but his wanderlust as well as his curiosity, have driven him onto the French countryside and ancient paths, including the Roman Road.

He describes numerous historical events that have occurred on the roads they’ve chosen to follow.

If a visit to France is in your future plans, Dowie’s book may be just the ticket to a adventure-filled tramp, seeing the world in slow motion. Even if you are an armchair traveler by choice or otherwise, this book may appeal to you.

It’s a good read. I bought my copy from Amazon, but may be available from local sources if you’re anxious to get started.
