Promise

Promises are often taken too lightly, easy to make, easy to break. Promises and trust go hand-in-hand and both parties ae equally responsible to the other.

It’s been decades since a friend – who has now passed – and I promised to meet in St. Louis at midnight on a Saturday. We’d both left Mississippi, he by air me by train. He flew to Wisconsin. I went to Kansas City.

I had he car and we met at the St. Louis airport a week late as promised. Our friendship continued for an additional 52 years.

It as all based on a promise kept.
