I’m not a science fiction fan, even though the suggestion in this prompt may be more science than fiction. Instead, I’m doing a book review and it’s not even 500 words.

Anne of Green Gables, by Lucy Maud Montgomery. Published in June 1908

It’s a story of a redheaded 11-year-old orphan girl who came to live with an older couple on Prince Edward Island. They had petitioned an asylum for a youngster and were expecting a boy to help with the farm work, but Anne (spelled with an E) came instead. So there’s a bit of conflict right off the bat.

The critics classify it as a child’s book. However, this 79-year-old man found the free audio version delightful. I might “read” it a second time.

It’s available from several free sources. It’s also available in audio on YouTube.
